An ideal solution for FDDI customers seeking a migration path to Gigabit Ethernet, the ER16-FDDI-02 is a high-performance FDDI switch router module for the X-Pedition ER16. Its next-generation design is capable of delivering full-function Layer 2, 3 and 4 switching, wire-speed Access Control Lists and Quality of Service. Supporting high-performance translation from Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and ATM to FDDI, as well as connectivity between FDDI modules, the ER16-FDDI-02 provides 100 Mbps of switched and routed connectivity via SC or UTP modular interfaces. The module also supports two modular slots, which can be configured to support a total of 2 SAS or DAS ports for added flexibility. Each slot accepts XP-FPHYs for SMF XP-FPHY-09, MMF XP-FPHY-01 and UTP XP-FPHY-02. In addition to DAS and SAS connectivity options, the FDDI switch router module supports full RMON/RMON2 and high-speed link aggregation. |
