The combination of SmartCard and biometric procedure guarantees the secure authentication of the user. Only the person in possession of the SmartCard is able to start the log-in process on the PC. Only when this card has been inserted in the SmartCard reader and the user has been identified by his or her fingerprint, the access to the PC is granted. The reference features of the individual fingerprint are stored in encrypted form on the SmartCard. If the SmartCard is removed from the SmartCard reader the PC is immediately locked. This ensures that only authorized and authenticated users can work with the PC. |
