Diskeeper version 8.0 continues this tradition with the introduction of an expanded product line with innovative new features and approaches to solving fragmentation problems for everyone, from home users to huge enterprise IT departments. Since the introduction of Diskeeper for Windows NT in 1995, disk capacities have increased significantly, particularly in server environments. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to see disk volumes in the terabyte range (approximately 1, 000 gigabytes, or approximately a thousand billion bytes) with millions of files. High-capacity disks need a specialized approach to defragmentation, since it can take a typical defragmenter days to analyze and defragment such a disk volume. To address this specialized need, Executive Software has expanded its family of defragmentation products to match the broad range of operating system choices now available from Microsoft, particularly the Windows Server 2003 offerings. |
